Hi,

I want to know how to use chillispot with dd-wrt sp2 micro.

Regards..
fudge - Fudge From:84.0.252.xxx | 2007-08-18 06:44:38
Micro version doesn't contain chillispot so you cannot do that.

Griffin - Range Extender? From:67.161.53.xxx | 2007-01-19 02:55:28
I have read that some other firmwares have a range extender feature. Does the DD-WRT Micro have this? This is the only real reason I want to try 3rd party firmware, and unfortunately my router's serial starts with CDFB

Any help?

thanks
PRP69 - WDS in DD-WRT From:71.227.252.xxx | 2007-01-22 21:01:21
I don't see it in the chart and that is why I am asking. DId DWs is a feature in DD-WRT for V6?
Alvarow - better QoS and firewall suppor From:200.162.106.xxx | 2007-03-29 12:10:48
Some ppl claim DD-WRT has better wireless support via newer drivers or is more stable (i.e more uptime), but I myself find the Linksys firmware to do that just fine, I have no problems on that area. But what made me switch, is better QoS and firewall support. I can login on the router and create my own rules via IPTABLES and TC commands. I think l7-filtering of Linux can't be beaten by any router within this price range.

with the micro version can i configure my wrt54 v.6 in client mode ??
Hightest From:74.117.19.xxx | 2007-05-22 16:36:59
Does the Micro version contain the QoS option?
Anonymous From:74.96.147.xxx | 2007-05-28 10:53:17
The micro version does have QoS. From my experience I heard about dd-wrt when I was trying to figure out why my WRT54g would freeze/crash every few days. I previously had a USR 8054 and in both cases was surprised as to how much difficulty these companies seem to be having in writing firmware that simply does not crash.

I don't know if 14 days of continuous solid operation is good enough to say this is good firmware but I've been extremely happy with the stability. I think the fact that it is running linux may have something to do with it.

Unfortunately I can't run dd-wrt on my USR8054.
transmit power adjustment From:194.106.93.xxx | 2007-06-12 13:26:12
how much is there on the micro build?
BraTTy From:71.161.213.xxx | 2007-06-23 22:01:06
You want to flash DD-WRT to a stock Linksys
mainly so that you can use it as a bridge/repeater and so you can change the power settings for the antennas
you can change the power from 0-251 mw on all versions for WRT that I am aware of

I have 2 WRT54GS and 1 WRT54G
smarconi - firmware support Registered | 2007-07-31 03:09:01

I've installed the Micro on my V6 and it works great in client bridge mode. Simple, stable, happy !!
John - uPnP WRT54G v5 From:82.36.229.xxx | 2007-09-07 18:14:06
I installed dd-wrt v23 SP2 only to find that my software returns a "connection forcefully rejected" error when trying to set up uPnP forwards. Any ideas?
Brad - Reason to Upgrade From:65.125.172.xxx | 2007-09-21 16:55:37
I've found the best reason to upgrade is that the Linksys WRT54G firmware seems to routinely re-assign IPs to my hardware. Since I have several servers running I don't really want all my Port Forwards to screw up every 7 days. DD_WRT fixes this just fine.

Now as for the V6 router getting castrated? That just pisses me off.

Q5Pp - Is micro-generic firmware comp From:124.106.137.xxx | 2007-09-26 07:45:49
Before embarking to flash my WRT-54Gv5 to dd-wrt micro-generic bin firmware, can I verify if there would be connectivity & hardware incompatibility problems with my VoIP ATA & X-Lite Softphone? Thanks.
braincrusher - dd-wrt is crap! From:66.87.93.xxx | 2007-11-16 00:47:34
Why you guys wasting your time with dd-wrt? It's a piece of crap.
Rhayader - Why is it crap? From:65.200.157.xxx | 2007-11-20 13:14:18
braincrusher -- why is dd-wrt "a piece of crap"? The micro version may not be as great as the full versions, but that has more to do with the limitations of the router model than the people who write the firmware. What is your suggestion? Keep the original firmware?
kin - dd-wrt-54g v5 firmware From:62.101.126.xxx | 2007-11-26 09:03:20

J - Question From:167.7.140.xxx | 2008-01-23 08:20:20
With the micro version can I use the Wireless Distribution System (WDS)? It allows a wireless network to be expanded using multiple access points without the need for a wired backbone to link them.

Meaning can I use my router to connect to another router and repeat that signal to my house?
GMSkel - PPPoE From:72.70.19.xxx | 2008-02-20 17:07:03
On Micro,, No PPPoE to be found.
Anybody know a way around this?
My ISP requires PPPoE.
xjukie From:60.54.36.xxx | 2008-03-18 07:09:23
if no PPoE means just can use it like AP only?
OsvaL.com From:200.85.47.xxx | 2008-04-03 19:07:00
It would be great if the micro version could allow SSH connections.

fred nerk - pppoe in micro From:220.253.94.xxx | 2008-05-06 21:58:32
To get pppoe in micro, go to Setup / Basic Setup / Internet Connection Type and choose PPPoE for Connection Type.
Matt - you can still telnet From:24.72.119.xxx | 2008-05-12 20:18:57
You may not be able to ssh into the wrt54g router but telnet brings up an 'ash' shell. Not enough memory to anything decent on it, but you have to love linux
Cryn o'loud - Some post ok, others.. From:70.127.11.xxx | 2008-06-24 12:11:11
I'm getting tired of all these forums on open source "you name it". I love the idea of open source and will stay with it. However, I see way to much jaw (keyboard) jackin' in the support forums (Other type forums are irrelevent, so...). I see a good question that developes into jibberish. Add "For more help, refer to the chart." to the first reply and that should cover it folks. Take some Adderall if you need to and start doing things that will help open source. Like I said, there is alot of jibberish out there. Also, there is often too many overly technical answers on forums. It's like trying teach advanced math without showing the all the steps in the equation or formula. I know you're smart so help some of us dummies for awhile. Geeeez!
Jackmehoffer - JackMehoffer From:70.15.215.xxx | 2008-07-04 20:19:22
Linux and open source suck
Anon - What? From:75.110.79.xxx | 2008-09-17 13:58:55
I've recently upgraded to a micro version from the stock linksys firmware (own a v6 model). Personally I can say withou t a shadow of doubt there are quite a lot more features, even if it is limited, its WAY beyond the stock features. Options, Options, and More Options. CHILLSPOT is enabled (not completely, but for basics) on v23SP1 (V24 doesn't work on v6 in my experience).

It's just better, overall, the end.
