Allrighty, if you followed my other tutorial on how to install DD-WRT you've got a Linksys WRT54G wireless router running linux, but say for some ungodly reason you wanted the VXWorks firmware back on there. Well thats what were are going to do today.

Once again like in the previous tutorial I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE if you end up with a paperweight. Blah blah blah. You get the idea, basically if you follow these directions exactly you will end up with a router running VXWorks, if you don't you may very well end up with a paperweight. Well atleast till I write a tutorial on how to de-brick a router using the JTAG connector.

First off like the last tutorial you will need some files.

• Linksys TFTP tool
• OpenWRT2.4-squashFS
• Linksys Firmware for Version 5 and Version 6

We are going to do this the easier way which involves TFTPing an image to the router. The reversion to VXWorks is a 'little' bit more difficult than installing DD-WRT because we have to issue some shell commands via telnet, but we'll get to that later. Anyways, extract the files of the zips to a temporary directory. Then we need to connect to the existing DD-WRT and clear the NVRAM. This is done by accessing the DD-WRT main page. Point your browser to http://192.168.1.1. You should get something like this:

Well now, we need to click on the Administration Tab, there we get something that looks like this:

There we need to click on Factory Defaults. It will present you with a screen like this:

Check the Yes radio button and then hit Save Settings. On the next page we will actually TFTP the OpenWRT image to the router.
