I changed the theme!
(Sunday, 29 October 2006) Written by Shawn
Hello there!     I changed the main theme of the website. It is the exact same theme for the phpbb forums. Not by the same person, but based on the subBlack theme for phpbb. I basically changed it because after some kind of modification I made to the other theme functionality ceased for internet explorer. Some of you prolly know, but when you loaded the web page all you got was the HTML code. It always worked fine in firefox, and thats my main browser, so I never noticed. Then one day I tried to load it from one of the other computers in the house that coincidentially had IE and it didn't work. Also someone left me a PM on a message board telling me that it didn't work for them in IE.     The IE thing being the main reason, I had wanted to change the theme for a while simply because the old theme was a fixed width theme, meaning if something was too wide for the center column, it would simply lay over the right hand column. This theme is a variable width theme, so no matter how big the content is in the center column, it will stretch and not lay over the right hand column. It might not look the greatest when this occurs, but at least functionality is not sacrificed. This would also have been a problem for those of you that use a higher resolution than 1024x768, as the old theme simply was not wide enough to fill your screen, this one will stretch to accomidate the width of your screen.     Oh and before I forget, for a while the chat functionality on the main menu hadn't been working, but I fixed it. I used to use a java based chat, but I download pjirc and use it to connect to an IRC server. This IRC server is one I run and if i'm not actually "there" and you want to ask a question just message me and leave your e-mail or something so I can get back to you. If you really need to get a hold of me there are various ways. You got here, you can comment on any of the articles on here, even the dumb flash games. I would however like it if you commented on the article in question. The comment system is open to the public. Second you can sign up for an account here and either PM me or leave a post in the forum. Thirdly you can e-mail me at thescorpion420@scorpiontek.org or thescorpion420@gmail.com.     I downloaded Firefox 2.0 from here . I kinda like it, however there are a few things that I can do without. First of all there are these individual close buttons on each of the tabs. I rather liked the old way of having a single close button on the right hand side of the tabs bar that closed the open tab. That is really my only gripe about it besides the fact that my Google Send to Phone extension doesn't work anymore . That was quite possibly the neatest extension for Firefox I had. If your not familiar with it, you type in a cell phone number and then type a message and it will text that message to the cell phone. It was really fun for screwing with people, because the callback number was like 000-000-0000 or from some Google e-mail addy. Lot of fun, oh well, being Google they will release a new version of it hopefully! I really like the new built-in functionality of restoring the session after a crash. It was available in 1.5 as an extension but now it is built in.     This website has exceeded all my expectations to be quite blunt. Its on the top page of a couple of Google searches, on almost every page relating to DD-WRT and how to install it on a v5-6. I never expected to get this much attention. If you wanna see how much attention check out this or this . This site gets between 1800-2000 page views a day and between 400-600 unique visitors. Crazy to think its all hosted on a home 7/1 DSL connection.     Well I really think I have blathered enough for today, have good one!! Shawn

New trojan eliminates the competition!
(Sunday, 22 October 2006) Written by Shawn
Man, check this out : eWeek Article Basically its a zombification trojan that installs itself on your PC, then downloads a pirated copy of Kaspersky, and hacks it to not detect itself. Then proceeds to scan your pc to remove "competing" malware. Absolutely hillarious. Shawn
